Apple Pay Hong Kong for credit cards
Both MasterCard and Visa are introducing Apple Pay Hong Kong for easy and secure payments via smartphone.
MasterCard is working with BOC Credit Card (International), DBS Bank, Hang Seng Bank, HSBC, Standard Chartered and The Bank of East Asia so their customers can use their MasterCard credit cards with Apple Pay.
A MasterCard survey has indicated that Hong Kong consumers are embracing mobile payment technologies, with 74 per cent of shoppers likely to use digital wallets with their mobile phones in the next year.
“In Hong Kong, contactless payments have become a necessity for everyday life,” says Visa Hong Kong and Macau country manager Caroline Ada. “One in 10 Visa transactions in Hong Kong is by Visa payWave, and we expect the number of contactless payments to grow even further.”
“With Apple Pay, shoppers’ expectations for safety, speed and convenience can all be addressed,” says MasterCard division president for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, Hiang Choong.
Security and privacy is at the core of Apple Pay. Credit-card numbers are not stored on Apple Pay, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique device account number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored on the device. Each transaction is authorised with a one-time security code.
Apple Pay is easy to set up and users will continue to receive all the rewards and benefits offered by credit cards.
Online shopping in apps accepting Apple Pay does away with the need to fill out account forms or type in shipping and billing information.
