Hong Kong Customs seize fake accessories

Hong Kong Customs officers have seized 164 suspected counterfeit accessories in a Causeway Bay raid.

A market value of about HK$550,000 (US$70,000) has been placed on the items.

A retail shop was investigated after the department received a tip-off. The suspected items seized include earrings, necklaces, rings and bracelets.

A 33-year-old female salesperson was arrested and the investigation is ongoing.

Under the Trade Descriptions Ordinance, any person who has or sells goods with a forged trademark commits an offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $500,000 and imprisonment for five years.
