Macau International Airport seeks retail partner

Macau International Airport has launched a request for proposals (RFP) to find a partner for a duty-free sub-concession relinquished by King Power Duty Free (Macau).

Sky Shilla Duty Free, a JV between Sky Connection of Hong Kong and The Shilla Duty Free of South Korea, has held dual duty-free services contracts at the airport along with King Power since November 2014. Before that King Power ran the contract exclusively for nine years.

The five-year contract covers four stores spanning 1130sqm airside in the South Departure Level, and covers liquor and tobacco, candies and souvenirs, general merchandise and international fashion, plus four kiosks for perfumes and cosmetics.

The successful bidder will have to design and build as well as run the shops and kiosks, the RFP specifying that 40 per cent of space should be devoted to liquor and tobacco plus perfume and cosmetics, with the balance allocated to general merchandise, confectionery, souvenirs, books, jewellery and watches, branded fashion and electronics.
